Water sports in Bohemian Paradise
Water sports
There are no rivers attractive for water sports enthusiasts in Bohemian Paradise within the territory of the Hradec Králové Region, but the Jizera River, popular among water sports enthusiasts, without a doubt, belongs to Bohemian Paradise as such.
The Jizera is a river, on which even experienced water sports enthusiasts can have fun during the increased spring flow, and from May onwards it is usually an undemanding river for family tourism or school events. The traditional starting point is usually Podspálov. After reconstruction of the electric power plant in Železný Brod, the bed 1.5 km in length is practically dry. Because the situation is similar in Líšný, it is better to opt for a start in Malá Skála, where it is also possible to rent a boat.
The Jizera is a river with beautiful surroundings, which is not built up with recreational cottages. There are enough places of interest along the river for those who do not want to just paddle along. Sail along the rock walls and you may see kingfishers in certain sections. The river has sufficient water for most of the year and has always been one of the cleaner rivers. The Jizera lacks campsites near the river. There is only one at Malá Skála. It is possible to make camp in Dolánky by the Zrcadlová Koza restaurant. Abandoned sand quarries can be found in Ploukonice on the right bank where people also make camp, but this means a longer way to carry your boat.
